JIWA Connections (to SQL Server)

Postby aegean66 » Wed Nov 25, 2015 7:57 pm

Can someone tell me where JIWA stores the connection information once a connection has been made?

The reason is that I have a SQL install, but JIWA will not show the databases. i.e when I add new connection, I put in server name; username; password, but the dropdown box to select the database is empty. Before you say anything about permissions, firewall etc etc I have tried every combo possible. Given admin permissions to all users, turned off firewall, changed every setting possible in SMS. I've tried SQL 2008, 2012, 2014, as well I have tried windows xp, 7 and 10.

This is just to do some work at home. Currently I have win10, with a sql server 2014 install (all on same box)

Management studio connects OK. SQL log says the JIWA connection is successful, its just the dropdown box wont expose the databases.

I figure if I could manually add the connection info to wherever JIWA stores it I can successfully use the connection.

And by the way I ran the install demo database option. So JIWA successfully creates a demo database, just cant see through the JIWA interface it to make the connection.

cheers,

Jiwa 6 requires a patch to work with Windows 8 and above.

You can get the patch here.

Download
Extract
Overwrite the existing file in the Jiwa installation folder (normally c:\Program Files (x86)\Jiwa Financials\Jiwa)
Do *not* register the dll

Some questions:

1. What OS are you using?
2. What function were you performing (i.e. were you simply creating a new connection)?

Also, ensure that you can connect OK to the database using SQL Management Studio with the same credentials.

I'm using Windows 7 64bit and just simply creating a new connection.

I can connect to the SQL. I tested using ODBC with the same credentials.

I've just setup a Windows x64 With SP1 and installed 06.05.13 WITHOUT the Windows 8 patch mentioned above.

I can see the databases when I select the drop-down combobox...

...and when I supply an invalid password I get an error:

Did you apply the patch for Windows 8? If so can you remove it and try again?
