Stocktake/Bin Location

Postby aegean66 » Mon Jun 26, 2017 11:04 am

Just looking at Bin locations for the first time in JIWA.

One question; Is it possible for one inventory item to have two or more bin locations?

Thanks in advance.

Yes.

An inventory item has a default bin, but any given stock line can be placed/moved into any bin.

Whilst Jiwa can hold stock in multiple locations the impact on doing a stocktake makes it extremely time consuming and almost impossible to manage

Whilst Scott has already indicated that we recognise some improvements can be made to the Stock Take function in Jiwa, are you aware of the ability to stock take by a bin location range?

If your bin locations are named in a logical manner, you can stock take an aisle, or even a shelf of an aisle in a warehouse by selecting the bin location mode when doing a new stock take, and selecting the appropriate from/to ranges.

This reduces the burden of how you manage your stock take process.

If your warehouse has 3 aisles, and each aisle had 5 shelves and then those were separated into 20 compartments along the length of the aisle, then it'd make sense to name your bins like this:

Code: Select all
Aisle   Shelf   Compartment   BinLocation Code
A          01            01             A0101
A          01            02             A0102
...
A          02            01             A0201
A          02            02             A0202
...
B          01            01             B0101
B          01            02             B0102

Then in your from/to ranges of the stock take form, you can limit which areas you are counting:
