Xero integration

it seems that Xero have stopped the creation of new private apps - you are now limited to OAUTH 2.0 apps:
  • Auth code - Web App
  • Auth code with PKCE - Mobile or desktop app

... which is kind of messing with my plans for a new customer...

because I'm lazy and don't want to spend a lot of time investigating, is there an easy fix?

So that's a "no" from Mr Barnes.

Of course I should have mentioned that I was referring to https://docs.jiwa.com.au/display/J7UG/Bank+Feeds...

I'm not sure I have the energy to figure out yet another arcane API... (I'm currently working on one for an EFTPOS integration).

Well, the easy fix is to wait for us to change our plugin and docs to use their new authentication mechanism. It doesn't look like it will be that hard - the changes look like it's just authentication.

I've logged DEV-8339 to address this.

Thanks, Stuart for those links - the one to the Github repository with sample C# code in particular will be useful.

Xero's developer site also links to its own libraries:

https://github.com/XeroAPI/Xero-NetStandard

and

https://github.com/XeroAPI/xero-netstandard-oauth2-samples

the latter also leads (via issues) to

https://github.com/SharePointPro/XeroMachine2Machine/ a "Demo of how to access Xero Auth2 without human auth using PCKE flow for desktop applications"

and

https://developer.xero.com/documentation/api-guides/machine-2-machine "Building integrations with no user interface"

This was fixed on DEV-8339 in SR9

Pay no heed to William5 - it looks like a backlink spam account.

Whilst it's not posted any spam yet, the current modus operandi is to create an account, post a few times and then change their signature to include a URL to the site they intend to promote. This is how the SEO cowboys who promise to "get your site #1 on Google" actually get a site to be highly ranked - temporarily - until Google and other search engines get on top and end up punishing the promoted site to be forever banished to the bottom of the search results. Meanwhile the SEO cowboys ride off into the sunset with the money.

EDIT: I spoke too soon - William5 has posted a spam backlink - it was in a quote block so I failed to notice it!

Into the abyss he goes.
