Generic Object Collection on Sales order form SetupBefore

I have an object that I create in the setup before handler that I want to keep associated with the sales form when I try and put it in the generic object collection I get a null reference exception since the property is null at this point, I can probably use the tag property on the form and attach the object there, is the tag property of a sales order form or for that matter any Jiwa form ever used by Jiwa itself?
