Installing Jiwa 7 on a Windows computer, which has .NET 4.6.1 installed the Jiwa 7.00.149 install may fail by getting stuck in a reboot loop at the .NET 4.6 installation pre-requisite.

The following steps should to be followed to resolve this issue:
Uninstall .NET 4.6.1 - Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3102467)
Uninstall .NET 4.6 - Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3045563)
NOTE: This might not be available if .NET 4.6.1 was already installed on the computer and refer to Note below
Reboot the server
Install Jiwa 7.00.149, which then will install .NET 4.6 as a pre-requisite. After the reboot the installer picks up to install Jiwa
Install .NET 4.6.1
NOTE: On Windows Server 2012 R2 .NET4.6 and .NET 4.6.1 aren't shown in Control Panel under the programs to uninstall, but it is shown as a Windows update. For further information access the links below and expand the 'Additional Information' node.

.NET 4.6: https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/downloa ... x?id=48137

.NET 4.6.1: https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/downloa ... x?id=49982

Update: The issue has been replicated and logged as a bug for correction under Bug 12495 - https://bugs.jiwa.com.au/show_bug.cgi?id=12495 for correction in the next public build after 7.00.149

The solution was tested successfully on a Windows Server 2012 R2 computer. Please note that we needed to uninstall the windows updates for .NET 4.6.1 AND .NET 4.6 to get it working

This must be some sort of record, surely?

We can't always respond in a timely fashion to forum posts, but in this case I know Scott was already across the problem and actually deploying a build to address the issue, so he had a prepared response handy from the bug report / solution he already had in front of him - nonetheless, it's impressive :)

removing the windows update helped to install Jiwa 149, and also I have proceeded to upgarde
a couple of databaes too.

however have a small issue everytime I restart the PC i get the attached message
"Failed rto write in file
c:\users\................\appdata\roaming\jiwafinancials\jiwa 770.149.0\isntall\Setup.msi" error
the process cannot access the file because the file is being used by another process"

also Jiwa begins its install again ....
I can get to work by cancelling both. However will this affect any subsequent jiwa upgrades ?
also will re applying the windows update be an issue now ?

No, future versions won't be affected. And re-applying update won't cause any issues now or for future versions.
